PHYTOSANTARY CERTIFICATE FOR EXPORT OF PLANT AND PLANT RELATED PRODUCTS

A Phytosanitary Certificate is a pivotal document for exporting plants and plant products, confirming their inspection for pests and diseases. Governed by the “Plant Quarantine Rule of 2018, Section 15(1)” outlines the necessary procedures. This certificate is essential in upholding global agricultural biosecurity during international trade, preventing the spread of harmful organisms.

Step by step process

Step 1 Document Preparation and Fee Submission: The applicant meticulously prepares all necessary documents as per the Plant Quarantine Rule requirements. Simultaneously, applicant must be submit the requisite fees and obtain a copy of the Treasury Challan as proof of payment.

Step 2 Submission of Application: The applicant submits the completed Application Form along with all supporting documents and dockets, registering the submission in the office’s register.

Step 3 Receipt and Registration of Application: The Office Assistant at the Plant Protection Wing receives the application, and after verification, registers it with the signature of the Deputy Director (DD).

Step 4 Document Verification and Approval by ADD/DD: The Office Assistant dockets the application and forwards it to the Assistant Deputy Director (ADD). Here, the ADD/DD meticulously verifies the submitted documents and grants approval if they meet the required standards. If deemed necessary, the ADD/DD conducts an inspection of the products intended for export to ensure compliance with phytosanitary standards.

Step 5 Phytosanitary Certificate Preparation & Approval: If no inspection is necessary, the Office Assistant prepares four copies of the Phytosanitary (PS) Certificate. Following thorough verification, the ADD/DD approves and signs the certificate, ensuring compliance and readiness for exportation.

Step 6 Certificate Issuance: The applicant receives three copies of the approved and signed Phytosanitary Certificate for use in the exportation process.

Fee Schedule:

1st tonne BDT 50.00.

Figmugation cost (if needed etc. Rice) per tonne BDT 86.00

In case of food products per Kg BDT 0.05

In case of Figmugation cost of Jute Per pallet BDT 25
