Step by step process
Step 1: Application Preparation and Submission: The exporter begins the process by preparing a written application for a Salubrity/Health Certificate, which is necessary for the export of fish and fish products. Along with the application, the exporter gathers all required documents, including details of the consignment, compliance records, and any other relevant certificates. The completed application and attached documents are then submitted to the Fish Inspection and Quality Control Office, part of the Department of Fisheries.
Step 2: Initial Review and Assignment: Upon receiving the application, the Deputy Director conducts an initial review to ensure all necessary information and documents are included. This review checks for completeness and adherence to submission requirements. Once the application passes this preliminary review, the Deputy Director assigns a qualified inspector to handle the inspection and verification process.
Step 3: Verification and Inspection: The assigned inspector carefully examines the application and the attached documents to verify their accuracy and validity. Following this, the inspector conducts a thorough physical inspection of the consignment to ensure it meets all relevant health and safety standards. During the inspection, the inspector collects samples from the consignment for further testing. A detailed report of the inspection is prepared and submitted to the Quality Control Officer.
Step 4: Laboratory Testing and Review: The Quality Control Officer forwards the collected samples to an accredited laboratory for necessary health and safety tests. Once the laboratory completes the testing, it submits the results to the Deputy Director. The Quality Control Officer and the inspector review these test results carefully. If the laboratory tests confirm that the products meet all required standards, they jointly recommend the issuance of the Salubrity/Health Certificate.
Step 5: Approval and Collection: Upon a satisfactory review, the Deputy Director approves the application. The applicant is then notified to collect the Salubrity/Health Certificate from the designated section of the Fish Inspection and Quality Control Office.
