Step by step process
Step 1 Application Submission: The applicant submits their EU Approval application to the Director General of the Department of Fisheries (DOF). The Fish Inspection and Quality Control (FIQC) division within the DOF then processes the application.
Step 2 Inspection by EU Approval Committee: The EU Approval Committee, previously formed within the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MOFL), conducts an inspection of the applicant’s processing plant. The plant is evaluated and scored according to a specific format. If the plant scores more than 80%, the committee recommends the company to the MOFL for approval.
Step 3 Ministry Approval and EU Submission: Ministry Approval and EU Submission: Upon receiving MOFL approval, the Director General of DOF sends a formal request, along with a prescribed form, to the Directorate General for Health and Consumers of the EU, which then submits it to the Common Forum of the EU.
Step 4 Common Forum Review: If the Common Forum accepts the application, the applicant’s name/ID is uploaded on the EU webpage. After the upload, the EU Approval Committee waits for one month to allow for any objections that may arise.
Step 5 Final Approval and Notification: If no objections are raised within the one-month period, the EU Approval Committee grants final approval and publishes the information on their website. Subsequently, the DOF informs the applicant of their approval status via a letter sent to the regional office.
